Applying the Long View to Investment Funds: Introducing the Long-term Disclosure Framework

In order to channel private capital to investments in infrastructure it is essential that investment funds are willing to exercise their long-term investing capabilities. Investor short-termism is regularly cited as a barrier to organisations making more progress towards viable and meaningful business practices. Therefore we at Sogne Strategies believe that the short-term versus long-term debate is incredible important. In the report ‘Applying the long view to investment funds: Introducing the long-term disclosure framework’ published by University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL, 2019 March) in association with Investment Leaders Group, a global network of pension funds, insurers and asset managers, the authors conclude that “improving the content and format of the disclosures provided by investment managers is key to enabling greater investments in funds oriented towards the longer term”.
